“This is Slateport Beach, Kappa.” Rowan looked towards his Tirtouga, a soft smile on his face at introducing them to a new environment. “I know you don’t get to swim in the ocean much, so go crazy.” This was more than enough permission for the turtle Pokemon to start scooting themselves across the sand towards the water, diving into the waves immediately. “Don’t go too far, though!”

Rowan had been hoping for the occupation of Sootopolis for a while now, wishing that his oceanic Pokémon had more room to swim and be in their desired environment instead of cramped up inside Pokeballs. “Maybe someday…” He muttered under his breath, wishing he had enough money to afford an inlet somewhere that his companions could swim free.

“Huh?” Before Rowan had a chance to settle into his spot on the sand, Kappa swam back from the water with something trapped between their jaws. “Whatcha got there?” What appeared to be a rock from further away actually was a Pokemon upon closer inspection. “A Carbink?” He hadn’t heard of them washing up on shores before, but he supposed that anything was possible in the strange lands of Hoenn. “Did you use Crunch on it?” Tirtouga nodded, confirming his suspicion that the Pokemon seemed strangely docile because of the effect. “Good job.”

Rowan reached down and patted the turtle Pokemon on the head before taking a step back and grabbing an empty Pokeball from his bag. “Okay, let it go.” Kappa obliged and Rowan threw the Pokeball, hoping to capture the fairy-type.
